Olivia Jeffries is a mark maker living on the Norfolk/Suffolk border working with salvaged materials and ceramics.

By exploring the elemental qualities of ordinary lines and shapes Olivia observes how the rhythms and cycles of life and the often barely tangible marks we leave behind come together to create a unique history.

Her drawing work incorporates salvaged materials such as paper, wood and textiles which bear the accidental marks left by previous owners and the passing of time and layers these with her own incidental marks to create new surfaces.

Through the process of mark making and building textures through experimentation and layering her ceramics work seeks to explore the relationship between decoration and function. Olivia handbuilds a range of tableware and decorative pieces leaving the marks of her making visible to show the story of her process on the finished surface.
