The native language scarves are a collection of 8 hand painted and block printed maps. The design process is improvised, and evolves over time, combining hand painted marks lines shapes spots dots with my family of much loved lino blocks and rubber stamps to form individual one-off pieces with a colourful and expressive pattern.
Scarf number six is a map which speaks its own language. It doesn’t feel the need to explain itself, it just is what it is. A weaving of lines and shapes, colour and forms for inspiration and navigation. What can you decipher?
Carry this scarf with you for guidance if you’re trying to understand something which doesn’t make sense. Look at the broad strokes, sieve for your own interpretation, get a feel for it and go with that.
Hang your scarf on the wall during warmer months, enjoy the juxtaposition of the marks and shapes and feel inspired.

Each scarf is created with lightweight organic voile, cotton thread and printed / painted with non-toxic inks.
Care instructions: machine wash 30 °C, iron on cotton setting.
